Decarbonizing distribution transformers

This presentation will follow on from Bhaba’s recent co-authored article on energy efficiency metrics for distribution transformers that was recently published in Transformer Magazine Vol 9, Issue 2, 2022. The introduction of specific Minimum Energy Performance Standards (MEPS) of distribution transformers in the early 2000's represented a huge step forward in streamlining the Australian & New Zealand transformer market and directing it towards energy efficient solutions.  Almost two decades later Bhaba articulates why there is a need to relook at the existing metrics and update our specifications.  Evaluating transformers based on their global warming potential is no longer a "nice-to-have"!
